Description
Springfield Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the mid to later 18th century. It is constructed from coursed squared sandstone with quoins and features a stone slate roof. The building has a double-depth, two-unit plan and stands two storeys tall with attics, comprising three symmetrical bays. The central doorway has a plain surround, with a single-light window above it and two 2-light windows on each floor. All windows have flat-faced flush-mullions and plain surrounds, with wooden louvred pseudo-shutters on the 2-light windows. The farmhouse has corniced gable chimneys and gable copings with returned ends. There are attic windows in the gables, with the right-hand gable featuring a Diocletian surround and a raised triple keystone. At the rear, there is a three-stage mullioned stair window, which is partly obscured by an added lean-to. A small outbuilding is attached at the right-hand corner but is not included in the listing. The interior is of less interest.
