Description
No. 4 Hall Lane is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the mid to late 18th century and altered over time. It is constructed of coursed squared sandstone with quoins and features a stone slate roof. The building has a double-depth, two-unit plan and stands two storeys high with two bays that are almost symmetrical. The doorway, which has a plain surround and a renewed lintel, is offset to the right of center. To the left of the doorway, there is a vertical joint and patched masonry indicating the former position of a second doorway. Each floor has two three-light windows, all with flat-faced, slightly-recessed mullions and plain surrounds, although the windows on the right are not vertically aligned. The building has gable chimneys and gable copings with kneelers. It is set back from the road and forms a group with No. 6.
