Description
Nos. 79, 81, and 83 Town Street are a row of three cottages built in the late 18th century. They are constructed from coursed squared sandstone and feature a stone slate roof. The cottages have a rectangular double-depth plan, with No. 79 consisting of two units and Nos. 81 and 83 each having one unit.
The buildings are two storeys high and have four bays. No. 79, located on the left, is almost symmetrical with a doorway that is offset to the left. Nos. 81 and 83, which are together, are also nearly symmetrical and have coupled doorways that are similarly offset to the left. All doorways have plain surrounds. Each floor of the cottages has four windows, all of which are coupled 4-pane sashes with plain sills and heads, and flat-faced flush mullions. There is a ridge chimney located in the centre, a modern ventilator on the ridge between Nos. 81 and 83, and gable chimneys on the ends.
