Description
Grove Manse is a house dating from the early to mid 18th century. It is constructed of coursed dressed sandstone and has a roof made of composition tiles. The building has a rectangular double-depth plan and stands two storeys high with five bays, displaying a symmetrical and simple classical style. Notable features include rusticated quoins, a first-floor band, and a central doorway that has a moulded architrave and a moulded cornice supported by scrolled consoles. There are four windows on the ground floor and five above, all of which are 4-pane sashes with plain raised surrounds, except for the central window on the first floor, which has a moulded sill and an architrave that matches the doorway below. The house also features a moulded gutter cornice, gable chimneys, and gable copings with kneelers. It is a good example of its type and date, exhibiting modest dignity.
