Description
High View, also known as Nos 3 and 4, is a pair of cottages located on Station Road in Esholt. They were rebuilt in the late 18th century or early 19th century, although they may incorporate elements from an earlier 18th century or possibly 17th century building. These cottages are part of the Esholt Estate and feature broad gabled fronts made of sandstone "brick" with stone slate roofs. Each cottage has three light square mullion windows set in squared surrounds and squared jamb doorways. There is a single-storey extension to No 6, which includes a squared jamb doorway and former two light square mullion windows. The cottages also have tall corniced side chimneys. Notably, the side elevations of No 3 retain some earlier quoins, and the roof gable incorporates quoining from the earlier building.
