Description
Houghton House Farmhouse is a farmhouse, probably built in the late 18th century. It is constructed from coursed sandstone blocks with large quoins and has a slate roof featuring gable chimneys. The building has a rectangular double pile, three-bay plan and is two storeys high. The facade is symmetrical and includes a rounded gutter cornice. The entrance features a pilastered doorcase with a raised cornice. There are two windows on the ground floor and three on the first floor, with the windows on either side having large and irregular jamb stones. The central window on the first floor has a plain stone case, and all windows are fitted with casements that have glazing bars. The rear wall has similar windows on both floors, but with exaggerated jamb stones. It also features a tall round-headed stairlight with glazing bars, flanked by a pair of jamb stones at the center, and a ground floor doorway to the left of this, which also has large jamb stones.
