Description

This is a late 19th century mile post located on New Hey Road in Scammonden. It features a cast iron plate affixed to a stone post with a rounded top. The plate displays the following inscriptions: "HUDDERSFIELD & NEW HEY ROAD SCAMMONDEN JUNCTION HUDDERSFIELD 5 MILES 8 MILES ROCHDALE 11 MILES." Additionally, in smaller letters, it reads: "BRAYSHAW & BOOTH MAKERS LIVERSEDGE."
