Description

This is a terrace of cottages built in 1825, as indicated by a datestone. The cottages are constructed of hammer-dressed stone, with a pitched stone slate roof and a hip at the east end. Decorative stone brackets support the guttering. The south elevation features two or three storeys, with each cottage having a doorway and a single light window above. There is a single, two-light stone mullioned window on each floor. All openings have stone surrounds. Number 1394 has a continuous sill band to the first floor, with a stone plaque inscribed with "B J & S Mount Pleasant 1825". The north elevation is three storeys high, also with stone brackets to the gutter. Basement floors have a doorway and four-light stone mullioned windows. The basement of Number 1390 has a five-light stone mullioned window. The ground and first floors have various single-light windows. The basement of Number 1388 incorporates modern casements within the original window openings.
