Description
School Terrace, built in 1825, is a terrace of three houses located on Manchester Road in Slaithwaite. The building is constructed from hammer-dressed stone with ashlar dressings and features rusticated quoins and a plinth. It has a hipped slate roof supported by stone brackets at the gutter. The north elevation presents a symmetrical facade with two entrances framed in plain stone surrounds, along with eight bays of sash windows also set in stone surrounds. A continuous string course runs between the ground and first floor. The central two bays are topped with a pediment that contains an inscription in an elliptical plaque reading: "Slaithwaite and Lingards School Terrace 1825" in Roman numerals. There is a lean-to structure on the west side.
