Description
Nos 2 and 4 Lewisham Road are a pair of mid-19th century houses designed in a vernacular revival style. They are constructed from hammer-dressed stone with ashlar dressings and large stones forming the plinth. The houses feature a pitched slate roof with stone copings on moulded footstones and stone brackets supporting the gutter.
The north elevation has two storeys. On the ground floor, each house has an entrance and a three-light stone mullioned window with an ashlar surround and deep chamfered reveals. The window heads have semi-circular arches for each light, with round motifs in the spandrels. The doorways also feature deep chamfered reveals with Tudor arched heads and round motifs in the spandrels. A continuous hood moulding runs above the doorways and windows.
On the first floor, each house has a single light window and one two-light stone mullioned window, both with ashlar surrounds and deep chamfered reveals. The window heads again have semi-circular arches for each light, with round motifs in the spandrels. There are extensions to the west and south of the buildings.
