Description
No. 8 Royd Street is a mid-19th century end terrace house built in a vernacular revival style. The building features hammer-dressed stone and a pitched stone slate roof, with stone brackets supporting the gutter and coped gables. It has two storeys.
On the north elevation, the ground floor includes two 3-light stone mullioned windows that are recessed and chamfered. There is a central six-panelled door with a stone surround and chamfered reveals, topped by an arched door lintel with carved spandrels. A continuous hood moulding runs above the door and windows. The first floor has a continuous row of five 2-light stone mullioned windows, which are also chamfered and recessed, alternating in height with a continuous hood moulding above.
