Description
Nos 86 and 88 Church Street are a pair of mid-19th century houses. They are constructed of gault brick with stucco dressings and feature a double-pitched slate roof, complete with end parapets on kneelers and end stacks for each range. The houses have a double pile plan and rise two storeys high.
The three-bay facade is divided by giant stuccoed and rusticated pilaster strips, with a band running between the storeys. The central bay is recessed and contains paired doorways that have doorcases with entablatures supported by enriched scroll console brackets. Above these doorways are two twelve-pane hung sash windows, flanked by engaged columns. The outer bays each feature a sixteen-pane hung sash window at the first floor, set within stuccoed surrounds, while the ground floor has two similar windows, which are topped with moulded cornices on enriched scroll console brackets.
