Description

Near Field is a mid-19th century building that served as both a manufacturing site and a dwelling. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features a pitched stone slate roof with a coped gable on the west side. Stone brackets support the gutter. The building has three storeys, with the ground floor at the back level with the earth.

On the north elevation, the ground floor has a central doorway with stone surrounds, flanked by two 2-light stone mullioned windows that have pronounced sills. The first floor contains two 2-light stone mullioned windows with a continuous pronounced sill band. The second floor features three 2-light stone mullioned windows, all with pronounced sills.

The south elevation has the ground floor back to earth. The first floor includes two 2-light stone mullioned windows with pronounced sills and one 3-light stone mullioned window with a pronounced sill. The second floor has a doorway with stone surrounds, two 2-light stone mullioned windows with a continuous pronounced sill band, and a single light window.

On the east gable, the ground floor has a doorway with a stone surround and one single light window with a stone surround, along with a single-storey extension. The first floor features one single light window with a stone surround, while the second floor has one 2-light stone mullioned window with a pronounced sill.
