Description

New Hey Farmhouse and Barn is a late 18th century building, with the western part dating from the early to mid 19th century. Originally, it was three separate dwellings. The structure is made of hammer-dressed stone and features quoins, a pitched stoneslate roof, coped gables, and moulded footstones at the western end. Stone brackets support the gutter. The building is two storeys high.

On the south elevation, the ground floor includes a lean-to extension, an entrance with a stone surround and tie-stones, and two four-light stone mullioned windows, one of which is chamfered and recessed. The first floor has two three-light stone mullioned windows, with one window having one light blocked and one mullion removed, along with two additional four-light stone mullioned windows, one of which is also chamfered and recessed.

The north elevation features two entrances with stone surrounds on the ground floor, a five-light stone mullioned window, and two single lights with stone surrounds. The first floor has two three-light stone mullioned windows, one two-light stone mullioned window, and one single light with a stone surround, as well as a later loading door. The dividing wall between the older and newer parts of the building, which was once an external wall, contains a blocked two-light chamfered and recessed stone mullioned window. The west elevation has one two-light stone mullioned window and one single light with stone surrounds.
