Description

Clark Hill Farmhouse and Clark Hill Cottage date from 1674, with the cottage being from the late 18th century. They are built in one range using coursed rubble, with some parts rendered, and feature quoins and a pitched stone slate roof. The building has two storeys.

On the east elevation, the farmhouse has an entrance with quoins, chamfered reveals, and deep millstone grit. The lintel features a Tudor arch with the inscription "IMH 1674" in a squared motif typical of the period. Above the entrance is a drip moulding. There is one 8-light stone mullioned window with double chamfering and a central king mullion, and a 5-light stone mullioned window that is double chamfered and recessed, although two outer lights are blocked. Above both windows is a single drip moulding with decorative square stops at each end, featuring a six-petal floral motif. On the first floor, there is a 5-light stone mullioned window with chamfered and recessed square mullions, and a 4-light stone mullioned window, also chamfered and recessed.

The cottage has a 5-light stone mullioned window on the ground floor and a 4-light stone mullioned window on the first floor. The north gable includes a lean-to extension, while the south gable has a first-floor 2-light stone mullioned window that is chamfered and recessed, with the mullion removed, along with another lean-to extension. On the west elevation, the ground floor is back to earth, featuring a small light, possibly a fire window, with a chamfered surround and a semicircular false arch.
