Description

Centre Cottage is an early to mid-18th century cottage, originally part of a farm group. It was altered in the early 19th century. The cottage is constructed of deeply coursed millstone grit, with quoins to the rear, and has a stone slate roof. It is two storeys high. The front entrance has a deep lintel with a Tudor arch. The east elevation features a 4-light double chamfered window, which has been enlarged downwards with a new sill; the original mullions have been removed and a square cut mullion has replaced the centre one. A 6-light stone mullioned window is on the first floor of the east elevation. The rear elevation has two small single-light windows, one of which is double chamfered, along with a 3-light double chamfered stone mullioned window on the first floor, where the mullions have also been removed. The interior includes later roof trusses.
