Description
Moor Gate is a late 18th century cottage, which was originally two separate cottages, with a later extension added to the east. The building is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features quoins and a pitched stone slate roof with coped gables. Millstone grit moulded footstones are present at the base.
It stands two storeys high. On the south elevation, the ground floor includes an entrance with a stone surround set within a modern porch. There is also a blocked entrance that has a deep millstone grit lintel, stone surround, and tie-stones. The ground floor is further adorned with two 4-light stone mullioned windows that have recessed mullions.
On the first floor, there are four 2-light stone mullioned windows, also with recessed mullions, and one 3-light stone mullioned window. The east gable features a single light window in the attic. The north elevation has a variety of 2 and 3-light stone mullioned windows, some of which are blocked. Additionally, there is a lean-to extension at the east end that includes an entrance with stone surrounds and tie-stones, topped with a catslide roof.
