Description
1 Ainley Place is a late 18th-century building that was originally two cottages. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features quoins, with a pitched stone slate roof and three chimneys. On the west elevation, there are two entrances framed by millstone grit surrounds, tie-stones, and large millstone grit lintels. Additionally, there is a single light window with millstone grit surrounds, and two blocked 2-light stone mullioned windows also with millstone grit surrounds. The east elevation has a first floor that includes one 4-light stone mullioned window and two 2-light stone mullioned windows. The north gable features a former 2-light stone mullioned window. There are later buildings attached to the south of the property.
