Description

Fox House Farmhouse is a mid to late 18th-century farmhouse, originally two dwellings with an adjoining barn set at a 90-degree angle to the west, now combined into a single residence. The farmhouse is constructed of deeply coursed millstone grit with quoins, and has a stone slate roof with gable copings on moulded kneelers. The facade is near-symmetrical, with two central doorways, one of which has been partly blocked, both featuring deep lintels and quoins. To either side of the doorways are four-light stone mullioned windows, the outer mullions of which have been removed and the windows slightly chamfered. A modern timber canopy covers the doorways. On the first floor are two four-light stone mullioned windows and a central two-light window. The barn’s east elevation has a large doorway with segmental arch and quoins to the left, with a glass infill, and a recent three-light window on each floor. The west elevation has a large doorway, opposite the main farmhouse doorway, which is blocked and partially obscured by a later building.
