Description
Sands Farmhouse and Barn, located off Moor Lane in Netherthong, is a house and adjoining barn built in the early to mid 19th century, with the barn dated 1826. The structure is made of hammer-dressed stone and features a stone slate roof with stone brackets.
The farmhouse has a symmetrical three-bay facade on its south elevation, with continuous sill bands on the first and second floors. There is a central doorway, which has been recently altered, and a three-light stone mullioned window on each side. The first and second floors each contain two four-light stone mullioned windows and a central two-light window. On the north elevation, there are two two-light stone mullioned windows on both the first and second floors.
The barn's south elevation features a large central doorway with an elliptical arch, which has a raised keystone displaying the date and initials: I E B 1826. Above this doorway is a square light, and to the right, there is a large recent window. The north elevation includes a large lean-to extension with a catslide roof, which is of a later date.
