Description
Fern Cottage is a cottage dating from around 1700, with alterations made in the late 18th century, early 19th century, and 20th century. It is built of squared rubble with stone dressings and has a stone slate roof. The cottage has two storeys and consists of one bay. The left-hand entrance features a chamfered surround and a decorated lintel, with a door added around 1960.
On the ground floor, there is a former four-light chamfered mullioned window that has been reduced to two lights, retaining only the king mullion and a drip moulding. The upper floor originally had a three-light chamfered mullioned window, which is now also two lights with only the left-hand mullion remaining. The windows have leaded casements and fixed lights. The right-hand gable end has a shaped kneeler and coping, and there is a ridge stack on the right-hand gable end. The interior is not accessible.
