Description

Howgill House is a house dating to around 1810, with alterations made in the late 19th century. It is constructed of dressed stone with a stone slate roof. The house follows a central staircase plan and is double-fronted, extending over two storeys. The entrance is situated slightly left of centre, featuring a late 19th-century gabled porch with decorative bargeboards. The entrance surround is painted, and the door is six-panelled with the top two panels glazed. There are two windows on each storey, all with plain surrounds and 16-pane sashes. The eaves have square modillions. The gable ends have coping, and there are ridge stacks.
