Description
Holly Cottage is a cottage dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. It is constructed of squared rubble with stone dressings and features a stone slate roof. The cottage has a former baffle-entry plan and is two storeys high with a double front.
The central entrance is located in a late 19th-century gabled porch made of dressed stone, which has shaped kneelers and a plank door added around 1970. To the right, there is a blocked late 17th-century entrance with a chamfered surround. The left-hand ground floor window, dating from around 1900, has a plain surround and 4-pane casements. The right-hand mid-18th-century window features a 3-light flat faced mullion with 20th-century 2-pane casements.
On the upper floor, the left-hand window is a late 17th-century 3-light double chamfered mullioned window, while the right-hand window is a late 18th-century 3-light flat faced mullioned window, both with 20th-century 2-pane casements. The left-hand gable end has shaped kneelers and ridge stacks, and the right-hand return contains an upper floor 2-light double chamfered mullioned window with 2-pane casements.
