Description
The Rising Sun Public House is a mid-19th century building that was originally a weaver's house. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features a pitched stone slate roof with three chimneys, two of which are made of stone. The gables are coped, and there are stone brackets supporting the gutter.
On the southeast elevation, the ground floor includes one door with a stone surround, which is adorned with pilasters, an entablature, and a blocking course. There are also two four-light stone mullioned windows. The first floor has two additional four-light stone mullioned windows, which may have originally formed a continuous fourteen-light window. A continuous sill band runs beneath the first-floor windows.
On the northwest elevation, the ground floor features a door with a stone surround, a part-blocked doorway, and two four-light stone mullioned windows. The first floor has one blocked loading door and one eleven-light stone mullioned window. There is a two-storey extension on the west side, which is of a later date and includes one range of two-light stone mullioned windows.
