Description
Nos 22 and 24 Cliffe Ash, dated 1845, are two former weavers' houses that now serve as a museum. They were built by James Pearson, a clothier born in 1796, and his wife Sally. Their children, John and Joseph Pearson, were part owners of Golcar Mill. The buildings are constructed from hammer-dressed stone and feature a stone slate roof. No 24 has stone brackets. The houses are three storeys tall, with a continuous sill running across the first and second floors. On the south elevation, No 22 has a ground floor entrance with an adjoining single light. The first floor includes one four-light stone mullioned window, which has had two of its mullions removed, and one two-light window, which may have been altered. The second floor features an eight-light window with alternate mullions removed.
