Description
Nos. 4 and 5 Mazebrook is a large farmhouse dated 1654, constructed from hammer dressed stone with quoins and a stone slate roof featuring gable copings on cut kneelers. The building has three large ashlar gable stacks and is two storeys high, with a continuous drip moulding over the ground floor windows on the main elevation. The layout is L-shaped, with a gabled wing and an outshut to the rear.
The main elevation includes a 5-light window to the left and a 5 + 2-light window with a king mullion to the right, both of which are double chamfered. There are also two 4-light windows on the first floor that are chamfered and recessed. At a high level to the right is a round-arched fire window. The main entrance is located on the right gable and features a deep lintel with a cambered arch, inscribed with "AD 1654 IB." To the right, the wing has a double chamfered 5-light window with a hood mould, along with a 4-light chamfered and recessed window on the first floor. Another round-arched fire window is present to the right at a high level.
