Description

West House is a large, detached house dating from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of ashlar and has a hipped slate roof. The building is two storeys high, with a band separating the floors and a deep, moulded eaves cornice with a blocking course that rises centrally to form a parapet with three urns. The symmetrical facade features five bays, with the central three bays projecting slightly, and a two-storey, single-bay wing set back on each side. The central doorway is accessed by five steps and features a semi-circular fanlight, entablature, and pediment. Sash windows are present throughout, with the upper floor windows having glazing bars. An open, glass porch with slender columns is located on the right wing.
