Description

This is a milestone located 5 meters north of the junction with Bank Hey Bottom Lane in Ripponden. It dates from the mid-18th century and was re-cut, likely after 1945, due to damage sustained during World War II. The milestone is a monolith with two angled faces. The left face reads "TO ROCHDALE" and the right face reads "TO ELLAND 11 4 1/2 MILES."
