Description

This milestone, located 150 metres east of Little London, dates from the mid-19th century. It features an arched stone structure overlaid with cast iron, which has two projecting faces. The top of the milestone reads "OLDHAM & RIPPONDEN ROAD RISHWORTH." The left face indicates distances to Oldham and Manchester, stating "OLDHAM 10 MILES" and "MANCHESTER 17 MILES." The right face shows distances to Ripponden and Halifax, stating "RIPPONDEN 3 MILES" and "HALIFAX 8 1/2 MILES."
