Description

Milestone located opposite Rishworth School, dating from the mid-19th century. It features an arched stone structure overlaid with cast iron, displaying two projecting faces. The top of the milestone reads "OLDHAM & RIPPONDEN ROAD RISHWORTH." The left face indicates "OLDHAM" and "MANCHESTER 19 MILES," while the right face shows "RIPPONDEN 12 MILES" and "HALIFAX 6 1/2 MILES." The milestone also bears the maker's name, "BRAYSHAW & BOOTH MAKERS LIVERSEDGE."
