Description
This milestone, located 200 meters to the northeast of Spa Bridge, dates from the mid-19th century. It features an arched stone structure overlaid with cast iron, which has two projecting faces. The top of the milestone reads "OLDHAM & RIPPONDEN ROAD RISHWORTH." The left face indicates distances to Oldham (8 miles) and Manchester (15 miles), while the right face shows distances to Ripponden (5 miles) and Halifax (10½ miles).
