Description

Elland Road Bridge is a bridge that dates back to 1772 and was widened and altered in the mid-19th century. It is constructed from hammer dressed stone, with ashlar voussoirs and rockfaced stone. The bridge features a single segmental arch over the River Ryburne, along with two smaller land arches to the east, which are separated by ashlar piers. The thin hammer dressed stone walls of the earlier bridge are complemented by a 19th-century rock faced stone and ashlar parapet, which includes a band and coping. This bridge was formerly known as the Elland Turnpike Bridge.
