Description
Chapel Farmhouse, Croft Cottage, and Fern Lee are early 17th-century houses that have been subdivided. They are built from hammer-dressed stone with ashlar quoins and feature a stone slate roof. The buildings are two storeys high and have a three-room through-passage plan with a cross-wing that is flush with the front.
The front of the houses includes a double chamfered mullioned window with five lights, which is mirrored above on the first floor, both with hoodmoulds. There is an inserted doorway with composite jambs. The housebody features a six-light window and a two-light fire-window, both of which are missing some mullions and are situated under a stepped hoodmould. Additionally, there is a three-light flat-faced mullioned window on the first floor and a doorway with a Tudor arched lintel, which has a small chamfered light above it on the first floor.
The former service end has an altered two-light sash window, with a five-light double chamfered mullioned window above it on the first floor. The left-hand return wall has a lateral extruded stack made of ashlar. The wing has a coped gable with kneelers and finials, and there are three stacks at the ridge.
