Description
No 2 Crown Street is a mid to late 19th-century classical stone corner building that continues the architectural lines of No 1 Princess Street, with which it forms a group. The building stands five storeys tall and features two windows on the front with a rounded corner, plus two additional windows on the return side. The ground storey is occupied by a shop. Above, the windows are pedimented and consist of three lights at both the corner and the return. The main entablature, located below the top storey, is topped with four urns and a panelled chimney stack. No 2 Crown Street is part of a group that includes Nos 2 to 23 (even) and also forms a group with all the listed buildings on Crossley Street, No 2 Wade Street, No 12, Nos 18 to 22 (even), and Nos 17 to 33 (odd) Northgate, as well as the south extension of the White Swan Hotel, the White Swan Hotel itself, and the Princess Buildings on Princess Street.
