Description
No. 21 Crossley Street is a mid to late 19th-century stone building designed in a plain classical style. It is a corner block that continues the architectural lines of Nos. 17 and 19. The building stands three storeys tall and features four windows, including one on the rounded corner where the entrance is located, and two additional windows plus three more on the west return facing Waterhouse Street. It has a crowning cornice and a flat roof. This building is included for its group value, as it is part of an important collection of listed buildings in Crossley Street, which includes No. 2 Wade Street, No. 12, Nos. 18 to 22 (even), and Nos. 17 to 33 (odd) Northgate, as well as the White Swan Hotel and Princess Buildings on Princess Street, and the offices of the Borough Engineer located at the rear of the Town Hall Street East.
