Description

This is a former warehouse dating to the late 18th century, with alterations made in the 21st century. It is constructed of thinly coursed squared sandstone with ashlar quoins and dressings, covered by a stone slate roof. The building is five storeys high and has six windows along its south-facing elevation. A break in the masonry exists between the western and eastern halves, with the eastern half featuring irregular quoining.

The south elevation has a blocked doorway on the right of the ground floor, flanked by blocked square windows, all within plain stone surrounds. The first floor features a blocked doorway with scrolled brackets to the hood, alongside one window to the left and three to the right, all two-light and in plain stone surrounds. The second, third, and fourth floors each have six two-light windows, although one window is missing from the fourth floor. The east-facing gable end shows partially demolished loading doors on the first, second, and third floors, small blocked openings on the second and third floors, and the remains of a former roofline cutting across the second-floor opening. Portions of the third and fourth floors have been demolished and replaced with breeze blocks, with two new openings inserted at the fourth floor featuring steel lintels. The west-facing gable end has a four-light blocked opening on the ground floor within a plain stone surround, and four floors of three two-light windows above. The north elevation has a ground-floor doorway on the right with scroll brackets to the hood, plus three continuous blocked openings to its left. Above this are a large two-light window on the first floor, two two-light windows on the second floor, and three on each of the third and fourth floors. The eastern half of the north elevation has three two-light windows on the first to fourth floors, an enlarged ground-floor opening with an inserted steel beam and partial breeze block blocking, and a former doorway blocked long ago with stone. One window on the third floor is a partly blocked loading door.

During inspection, the interiors were inaccessible, except for a view into one part of the ground floor, revealing squared ceiling beams and an inserted breeze block wall.
