Description
Crimsworth Methodist Church is a chapel built in 1834. It features dressed stone with ashlar quoins and dressings, topped by a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and its front faces the road at a right angle. The symmetrical facade has three bays and is topped with a pediment gable. The doorcase includes stone pilasters, a cornice, and a triangular pediment, which is flanked by quadrants. The tympanum above the door is inscribed with "WESLEYAN CHAPEL." The windows, dating from 1834, are sashed with margin panes and set in semi-circular arches, complete with impost blocks and keystones. There are similar four-bay windows on the return side. A blank tablet is located in the tympanum of the gable. The pediment has a moulded shallow trim, and there is a stone gutter eaves band. Inside, the church features a gallery with box pews and an organ loft. It is prominently situated in the center of the village.
