Description

This is a farmhouse, likely built around 1728, and now divided into two separate dwellings. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof. The house is two storeys high and originally comprised two rooms at the front, arranged as a double-depth plan. The south front features a four-light double-chamfered mullioned window, missing two mullions and with a lowered sill. Above this, on the first floor, is a similar window which has been altered. To the right is a six-light double-chamfered mullioned window with a king mullion, and above it a four-light window on the first floor. The corners of the building are emphasised with quoins. The right-hand return wall has a gable containing a doorway with double tie-stone jambs and a monolithic lintel, all set within a chamfered surround. All the windows are chamfered mullioned. A two-light window sits above the doorway, and an oculus (now blocked) is located at the gable apex, with a six-light window above it on the first floor. The property has one gable stack and three others. Attached to the west end is a house from the early 20th century of unremarkable design, known as Wilcroft House.
