Description

This is a barn dated 1676, located 10 meters south of Flat Head in Ripponden. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone with ashlar quoins and features a stone slate roof. The barn has a wide south-facing gable and a single aisle to the east. The aisle includes a segmental arched doorway with composite jambs, and above it are arch-headed ventilators arranged progressively in a sequence of one over two over three over four. On the right-hand return wall, there is a Tudor arched doorway with a chamfered surround, and the lintel is inscribed with "EMG 1676" set within a decorative tressure.
