Description

Bent Head Farmhouse and the attached barn is an early to mid 19th century three-cottage laithe-house that was altered in the mid 20th century to form a single dwelling. The building features watershot masonry and a stone slate roof, and it stands two storeys tall. The barn is located at the left end and has paired doorways, one of which is blocked, with tie-stone jambs leading to the mistal, as well as a segmental arched cart entry that has a simple Venetian window above it, although this window lacks mullions. The farmhouse has three bays of flat faced mullioned windows, including a 4-light window with a 5-light window above it, a 4-light window with a 6-light window above it, and a 2-light window with a 5-light window above it. Each window bay includes a doorway with tie-stone jambs. There are two stacks on the ridge and one additional stack. The left-hand return wall features a coped gable and a stilted-arched pitching hole, which has been converted into a window.
