Description

Lower Crimsworth Farmhouse is a house that dates back to 1599, with a porch added in 1661 and a cell added to the service end around 1974. The building is constructed from large dressed stone, with hammer-dressed stone used for the added cell, and features a stone slate roof. It has two storeys and a three-room plan, including a two-storey gabled porch.

The service end has been significantly remodelled but retains two small chamfered mullioned windows that have been raised and lowered, with a light opened between them. The main body of the house has a double chamfered mullioned window with eight lights and a king mullion (three lights on one side and five on the other). The porch features a coped gable with kneelers, and the doorway has a shaped lintel with two semi-circles above it, along with a datestone. There is a two-light window with arched lights, and a five-light window in the parlour with a hoodmould that has a straight return.

On the first floor, the windows have chamfered surrounds but originally lacked mullions; there were two windows with two lights and two with six lights. The house has three stacks along the ridge. At the rear, there is a single-storey outshut that likely dates from the early 18th century. The inner door bears a date, but the interior has not been inspected.
