Description

This is an early 19th century farmhouse and cottage, now combined into a single dwelling, with an attached barn. The building is of two distinct phases of construction. It is built of coursed squared stone with a stone slate roof, arranged as a laithe house plan. The building consists of a two-bay farmhouse on the left, a one-bay cottage to the right, and a three-bay barn. The windows generally have plain stone surrounds, with flat-faced mullions. The farmhouse has a doorway and a three-light window to the left and a four-light window to the right on the ground floor. Around 1980, a pent-roofed stone outshut was added to mask the doorway and the right-hand window. A central ridge stack is present. The cottage has a blocked doorway, a window to the right, and a three-light window to each floor, with a stack at the right end. A ragged joint between the cottage and barn on the far right indicates different building dates. The barn has a central arched cart entry with tie stones, a round-arched window above, and a mistal door to the right end.
