Description

This is a mid-19th century laithe-house with an attached barn. The farmhouse is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof. It is a two-storey, single-cell cottage. A doorway with monolithic (massive, unworked) jambs is located in a single-story outshut to the front, with a single window above it. The farmhouse has a flat-faced mullioned window of three large lights with plain stone surrounds and a projecting sill, repeated above. The barn features an elliptical arched cart entry with a raised impost and keystone. Above the cart entry is a simple Venetian window retaining small-paned glazing. Mistal doorways (farm building entrances) with monolithic jambs flank the cart entry, each with a single-light window above. A single stack rises from the ridge of the barn. Quoins (decorative corner stones) are present on the barn end only.
