Description

Nos. 6 to 14 Market Street is a row of shops with first floor sewing shops dating from around 1870, which have now been partly converted into a bank and offices. The building is constructed of pitch-faced stone with ashlar dressings and features timber windows on the first floor, topped by a slate roof. It stands three storeys tall and consists of five bays, each separated by pilasters and adorned with an enriched entablature on each floor. The first floor showcases a prominent long window with four arched lights, while above it on the second floor is a three-light flat-faced mullioned window, complete with an apron and a dropped keystone. The building is finished with a parapet and has five chimney stacks. It is illustrated in the Calder Civic Trust's Hebden Bridge Trail.
