Description
Nos. 19 to 21 Bedford Street is a building dating from the early 17th century, with renovations from the 20th century. Originally, its use is unknown, but it now houses shops and offices. The structure features a rendered timber-frame at the first floor and a flint rubble wall at the rear. It has a pantile roof and stands two storeys tall with a jetty at the first floor. The building has seven bays, with three 20th-century shopfronts and a carriage entry located to the left of the center. The moulded jetty fascia has been replaced, except for the section above the left-hand shop. Sash windows with glazing bars and simply moulded surrounds are present throughout. The left-hand gable end is constructed of brick and squared flint, featuring a weathered corbel figure. A box cornice is also present, along with a carved stone fireplace surround in the east room on the first floor.
