Description
The West End Bridge over the Hebden Water is a bridge built between 1771 and 1772 to carry the new turnpike road from Todmorden to Halifax, located in Hebden Bridge. There is a mid-19th century bridge that connects to the northeast, featuring renewed parapets from that period. The bridge has two spans with segmental arches. The oldest part of the bridge features pitch-faced voussoirs that are decoratively aligned over a short bull-nosed breakwater. The dressed stone on the northeast side includes central buttresses with a pointed breakwater topped with half pyramid capping. The bridge also has a band and parapet with chamfered cappings.
