Description
Nos 2 and 3 Brumfitt Hill are a pair of cottages built in 1755. They are constructed from hammer-dressed stone with dressed quoins and feature a stone slate roof. The cottages are two storeys high and each has two windows on the first floor. The paired doorways in the centre have composite jambs and basket-arched lintels with a chamfered surround that rises to the centre, creating a false ogee shape. The left doorway has the initials "JBS" carved in relief, while the right doorway displays the date. On either side of the doorways, there are three-light double-chamfered mullioned windows with almost square reveals on each floor, although the windows on the right side lack mullions. The rear of the cottages has two-light windows flanking a staircase window. There are gable stacks and one additional stack located centrally on the ridge.
Inside No 3, there is an original fireplace with a shallow-arched lintel and a chamfered surround. The interior also features stop-chamfered spine beams and a cupboard with raised and fielded panels built over the cellar head.
