Description

The road bridge over the Town Beck is a structure from the second half of the 18th century, likely designed by Bernard Hartley, who was the Surveyor of Bridges for the West Riding around 1790. It is constructed from rock-faced stone and features a channelled dressed-stone parapet. The bridge has a single segmental arch with springers and is supported by circular piers that have domed caps. The southern arch is open, while the northern arch has been covered over, although the parapet remains intact. The bridge is located in the center of the village.
