Description
The Bradford Metropolitan District Council Branch Library is a building that was originally a school and has been altered in the 19th century. It features hammer-dressed stone and a stone slate roof, and it stands two stories tall with three bays. The south front of the building has quoins and a main doorway that has composite double stop-chamfered jambs and a segmental-arched lintel, which bears a date inscription in high relief set within a shield. To the right of the main entrance, there is another doorway of 19th-century character with monolithic jambs. The front also includes two large windows, while the first floor has three sashed windows with plain stone surrounds. The building is adorned with moulded gutter brackets and has a stack on the right gable.
