Description
The Gilbert Sheldon Church of England School is a school building from the 18th century, with remodelling and additions made in the mid-19th century. It is constructed from coursed, squared, and dressed large stone blocks, topped with a clay tile roof and featuring a coursed and squared stone integral end stack.
On the north elevation, the building is one storey high with a coved eaves course. It has about six roof bays and vertical joints on the left and right that indicate three phases of construction. There is a four-panelled door located to the right of centre, a blocked doorway to the left of centre, and a blocked window opening in the centre. Above this, there is a gabled dormer featuring a top-opening window set in a chamfered surround.
The south elevation also has one storey and consists of four bays. It features large six-light top-opening windows in chamfered surrounds, with a casement window to the right. To the left, there is a lower gabled projection that includes a four-light top-opening window and painted barge boards. A door is situated to the right, along with a central weatherboarded flat roof porch and a concrete block flat roof porch to the right of centre. There is a lateral stack positioned to the left of centre.
